Quote of the Day (Jim Harrison, on What Made Him a Poet)
“I probably wouldn't have been a poet if I hadn't
lost my left eye when I was a boy. A neighbor girl shoved a broken bottle in my
face during a quarrel. Afterward, I retreated to the natural world and never
really came back, you know.”—Poet/novelist/screenwriter (Legends of the Fall) Jim Harrison, “What I’ve Learned” (interview by Cal Fussman), Esquire, August 2014
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
