The return of the cold snap up here in the Northeast
has put me in a frame of mind where I want to daydream about an unusually
temperate late-summer afternoon. For that reason, I thought I would follow up
on my post from yesterday with
another on the Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge, MA.
The Hosta Garden displays many shade-loving
perennials such as Hosta cultivars. While nearly universally characterized by
their durability, longevity, and versatility, these plants have struck me more often by
what is occasionally found among this type but readily seen here: its
enormous leaves.
