Quote of the Day (Dostoevsky, on Lying to Yourself)
“Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies
to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot
distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for
himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.” ― Fyodor
Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karazamov(1880)
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
