There's something about fountains and waterfalls--their grand onrush of water, maybe--that draws me, whether in a secluded mountain area or in the Paramus Park Mall of my youth in northern New Jersey. Last month, on vacation in Hilton Head, S.C., I took this photo of a fountain at the Marriott Grande Ocean, where I was staying. As you can tell, the fascination shows no sign of abating.
