Quote of the Day (Film’s Diablo Cody, on How Characters Resemble Their Creators)
“Just as humans are created from elaborate matrices
of ancestral traits, fictional characters, too, resemble the people who create
them. Even stock romantic-comedy heroines (who are written and rewritten in
Hollywood boardrooms for maximum ‘likability’) carry traces of DNA from the
hands that craft them. Even at our most inventive, we are what we
write.”—Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno), “The Narcissist Decade,” Newsweek, Dec. 5, 2011
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
