Quote of the Day (Jane Austen, on Resilience)
“There will be little rubs and disappointments everywhere, and we
are all apt to expect too much; but then, if one scheme of happiness fails,
human nature turns to another; if the first calculation is wrong, we make a
second better: we find comfort somewhere.” — English novelist Jane Austen (1775-1817), Mansfield Park(1814)
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
