Umpire (approaching the mound, gazing at the pitcher’s hand, which appears to have resin and turpentine): “Lefty, you’re putting a foreign substance on the ball. That’s illegal.”
Pitcher (Future Yankee broadcaster Jim Kaat): “That’s not a foreign substance. It’s made in North Carolina.”
