Photo of the Day: Patch of Green, Columbia University
I’m sure, well over half a century ago, when
planners at Columbia University
hatched their idea to connect the heart of the campus with its law school, that
concrete rather than green considerations dominated when they thought of a pedestrian bridge over Amsterdam Avenue. But on a beautiful
Saturday afternoon a month ago, when I found myself wandering around my alma
mater, the patch of green I saw—and the students (not pictured here) enjoying
it—was an unexpected delight.
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
