Photo of the Day: Spring Vista, Skylands Manor, Ringwood, NJ

I took the photo accompanying this post three years ago, at Skylands Manor/New Jersey Botanical Gardens. The weather was especially beautiful that Sunday afternoon, and I imagine this landscape is every bit as beautiful these days.

I have blogged about this site before (including this post), but there are never enough shots of nature’s loveliness to lift the human spirit, so I hope you don’t mind my returning to this subject.

Photo of the Day: A Beautiful Autumn Memory, NJ State Botanical Garden

It’s only been three months since the Sunday afternoon that I visited the New Jersey Botanical Garden in Ringwood, NJ. But in terms of the weather—and the resulting emotional atmosphere on the site—it feels far more distant in time. I’m glad I was able to record the scene here before the leaves had fallen for good.

For out-of-staters who mistakenly think New Jersey is all highways and refineries, this combination of specialty gardens and woodlands is must viewing.

Photo of the Day: Fall Flashback, New Jersey Botanical Garden

Instead, the “flashback” is to when I took this picture—early November, at the New Jersey Botanical Garden in Ringwood, in northern New Jersey. While many of the leaves had already begun to fall, there were still enough left to make for a glorious vista everywhere I turned that afternoon.

Photo of the Day: Rust in Autumn, Ringwood Manor, NJ

On the same Sunday afternoon in late October when I snapped this prior picture, I took this shot up at Ringwood Manor in northern New Jersey.

Photo of the Day: Water and Autumn Sky, Ringwood Manor, NJ

I’ve often found that changing your position—shooting from a different angle or height—can produce a different shot than what you might be used to. That proved to be the case for me at Ringwood Manor in northern New Jersey this past Sunday. Not just the objects in the distance, but those at my feet looked so much different as I crouched down to snap this picture.
