Yesterday, on what might, with combined heat and
humidity, have been the muggiest day in New York so far this year, I ventured
into Manhattan for a matinee performance of the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Significant Other (an interesting show
that I’ll review at a later date). I took this photograph of the street fair
going on outside the theater on 46th Street.
I felt miserable just walking a couple of blocks
from an eatery to the show; I can only guess at how the vendors must have felt
being out there all day long. The canopies might have helped with the blazing sun, but there was still all that stale air to contend with.
