Quote of the Day (Ralph Waldo Emerson, on Being “Thankful for Small Mercies”)
“I am thankful for small mercies. I
compared notes with one of my friends who expects everything of the universe,
and is disappointed when anything is less than the best, and I found that I
begin at the other extreme, expecting nothing, and am always full of thanks for
moderate goods…. If we will take the
good we find, asking no questions, we shall have heaping measures.”—Ralph Waldo
Emerson, “Experience”
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
