The “Old Town” section of Alexandria, Va. was founded in 1749. Among the highlights of this historic district is its waterfront, which I photographed on a visit six and a half years ago.

Photo of the Day: Enjoying the Break in the Winter Weather, NYC

New Yorkers know just how lucky there are that, till now—fingers crossed!—they haven’t had to cope with serious snow. They’ve even managed to take advantage of the brief breaks when the temperatures have climbed. 

One of those days was this past Saturday afternoon, when I took this other picture of the pedestrian walkway by West Street, at the western end of Christopher Street. The image you’re seeing now comes from the same brief photo session.

Photo of the Day: Biker, Dog and Waterfront, NYC

This afternoon, just before attending a play on Christopher Street, I noticed, to the west, one of the sites I value most about New York City: its waterfront. This section of it is adjacent to West Street, a name that, for those who know me well, makes me feel right at home.

I’m not sure which images I enjoyed more: the shots of New Jersey or of those on the esplanade. I chose the latter today, but undoubtedly I’ll present you with some of the former within the next week as well.
