I took this photo almost exactly two months ago now,
a bit north of Columbus Circle in Manhattan’s majestic park. The passing of one
season is evident, with the colors of fall resplendent in their final glory not
long before they would disappear. But the traces of snow are a reminder of the
season to come—one that those of us in the New York area are about to get a
stiff dose of us this weekend.
