Photo of the Day: Mel Chin’s ‘Wake,’ in Times Square, NYC

Over the last few days, I—and countless visitors passing through Times Square—have stood transfixed by this massive animatronic installation by artist Mel Chin. “Wake” evokes something between a wrecked ship and a marine mammal, but the center of attention is the face, fashioned in the likeness of legendary 19^th-century opera singer Jenny Lind.
