Quote of the Day (Pope St. Leo the Great, on the Eucharist)
“We are to celebrate the Lord's paschal sacrifice
with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. The leaven of our former
malice is thrown out, and a new creature is filled and inebriated with the Lord
himself. For the effect of our sharing in the body and blood of Christ is to
change us into what we receive. As we have died with him, and had been buried
and raised to life with him, so we bear him within us, both in body and in
spirit in everything we do.” —From a sermon by Pope St. Leo the Great (c.
400-461), Sermo 12 de Passione, 3,
6-7: PL 54, 355-357
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
