After work the other night, I passed through the parking lot of a restaurant in my town. Outside the restaurant, barely visible among the flowers, was this statuette. I do not offer this to you as a demonstration of the art of this statuette—and certainly not of the art of this photograph. Instead, I show this as a suggestion as to how God can appear to a single human life—in utter simplicity, in a context radically different from anything ever previously known or even conceived.
