Quote of the Day (Frank Laubach, on the ‘Darker Hours’ When God Comes)
“There is a deep peace that grows out of illness and
loneliness and a sense of failure. God cannot get close when everything is
delightful. He seems to need these darker hours, these empty-hearted hours, to
mean the most to people.”—Pioneer American linguist and missionary Frank
Laubach (1884-1970), Feb. 6, 1931 letter, in Letters by a Modern Mystic,
edited by Gina Brandon and Karen Friesen (originally published 1937, new
edition 2007)
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
