On Saturday, as
temperatures soared toward 60 degrees in my neck of the woods, I was surprised
to see there were still large patches of ice in Overpeck Creek in Bergen
County, NJ. With the mercury almost cut in half the next day, I was a good deal
less surprised that these expanses of ice remained as I walked through the Overpeck County Park Extension.
Obviously, the creatures
in this photo I took didn’t expect a lengthy wait for the end of the ice. As we
stand on the brink of spring, let’s hope they’re right.
