I took this photograph at the Chautauqua Institution, which I visited at its height this summer,
just after the Fourth of July. This
particular garden is located not far from the entrance to this picturesque
village in upstate New York. In fact, flowers are as big a part of the
environment there as bicycles (the grounds are automobile-restricted) and the
lovely cottages and inns, many dating back to the Victorian Era.
This is the final week of the season up there, but
ever since I got home, I have kept
returning up there, if only in my mind…
