“All things were made through him, and without him
nothing was made. What was made in him was life. And that life was the light of
men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome
it.”—John 1: 3-5
A sizable group of my readers will recognize the
image accompanying this post as the statue of Jesus in front of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, in
my hometown of Englewood, N.J. For 50 years, the church has served as my
spiritual north star. Its parish community has lit the way to know Him better,
and it continues to do so, above all now, in this season of light and love.
