This photo I snapped yesterday on my way home doesn’t
begin to convey the madhouse that was the Port Authority Building down by 42nd
Street yesterday. Forgot about finding
my life—it was tough to find any line
in the building, since so many people were milling about.
Again and again, I heard some variation of the same
line, one with which I agreed thoroughly: “the worst in all my years commuting.”
(In my case, 22 years going daily to work through the Lincoln Tunnel.)
Nearly a week after Hurricane Sandy, the chaos
continues. I imagine we’ll be dealing with this at least until the next nor’easter
blows over later this week…

I tried the bus to PA this morning. Never again.
So at least the line will not be longer tonight.
