Nothing makes you feel better in an urban “heat
island” on a muggy late summer’s day than a patch of ground with trees and
shrubbery. When it’s the Marsh and McLennan Memorial, adjacent to the company
headquarters in midtown Manhattan, there’s an additional reason to stop: the
chance to read the names on the tablet of those at the firm who perished in the
World Trade Center 11 years ago this coming Tuesday. In the midst of the heat
and the haste of Gotham, here is a chance to regroup and reflect.
