Photo of the Day: Farrell Woods, Closter NJ

It’s a bit surprising to find a set of woods behind a public library, even in suburban New Jersey. But that’s what I encountered a couple of weeks ago a few miles from where I live in Bergen County.

I was making a stop at the Closter Public Library when I decided to take a short walk around the surrounding area. That’s when I came across Farrell Woods and took this picture.

Photo of the Day: Alluring Azalea

As with yesterday’s “Photo of the Day,” I took this picture a week ago, when I visited Metropolitan Farm/Garden Center in Closter, in Bergen County, NJ.

As soon as I saw this, I sensed instinctively why azaleas have been called “the royalty of the garden.”

Photo of the Day: Greenhouse, Metropolitan Farm/Garden Center, Closter NJ

Last weekend, in search of flowers for our yard, my father and I drove up to Metropolitan Farm/Garden Center in Closter, in Bergen County, NJ. I took a photograph of its greenhouse, which had just about everything we could possibly want.

It is good to have greenery still in the most densely populated state in the Union—and particularly on a site so historic. The stone farmhouse that also stands on this site dates back to the early 1700s.
