Earlier this week, while visiting Pittsburgh, I
stopped with my brother at a local institution: Peppi’s, at Western Ave.
The menu item alluded to in this sign I photographed
on the premises pays tribute to “Big Ben,” the team’s longtime quarterback and
leader of the Pittsburgh Steelers, a two-time Super Bowl winner. The sandwich
named for him, I am told, has everything on it—rather appropriate, I
think you could say, for the player it honors.
All of this was a little beyond what I could manage,
but I was perfectly fine with what I ordered: an extremely savory steak
sandwich.
