Photo of the Day: ‘Heliconia Loop,’ NY Botanical Garden, Bronx NY
I came across this outdoor sculpture by Mark Chai
while I was visiting the exhibit “Georgia O’Keeffe: Visions of Hawai’I,” at the
New York BotanicalGarden a few
weeks ago. DCM Fabrication was responsible for translating Chai’s original
wood model into the larger stainless-steel installation in this pool, shaped to
suggest plants that the artist came across as a child in Hawaii, such as the
heliconia.
I'm a librarian (no, NOT a "cybrarian" or "information scientist" or any of the other trendy terms the profession has come up with), as well as a freelance writer/researcher; my political leanings are contrarian, much to the dismay of friends on the left and right, and so I will give anyone looking for my vote exactly what they deserve -- the back of my hand
