This small bronze sculpture squats outside the Brandywine River Museum, perhaps the
best regional art museum I’ve come across.
As you can guess, this image was taken last fall, when I was on vacation
in eastern Pennsylvania—an especially idyllic time, considering that Hurricane
Sandy hit not long after I got home. Spending time at the museum—very much
including the adjacent Brandywine Creek—is one of the nicest pastimes I can
think of for an autumn day, I think, and I hope to get back there again
sometime.
Anyway, this sculpture is by Andre Harvey. Perhaps not surprisingly, given its rural setting,
