“Cool” as in those sunglasses, that is. I have no
idea how “cool” (as in not breaking a sweat) this Statue of Liberty figure in
New York’s Duffy Square can be, given his particular get-up. (I’m not even sure
he’s showing his face there this weekend; I took this particular photo more
than a week ago, before it became unsafe for man or beast outside.)
But plenty of us regard the notion of liberty as
cool as you can get, and we’ll be celebrating this in a couple of days from
now. Let’s hope that in time, the whole world will find this notion as
appealing as we do.
