At the end of October, I visited Providence, RI for
the first time. One of the first sights I came across after getting off the
Amtrak Station was Water Place and Providence River Park, in downtown. This area was created by rerouting the Providence
River and removing paving that for decades had covered it over. The sight
confirmed what I had heard: that the revitalization of the waterway was a key
factor, in the last few decades, in reviving this New England city.
