Photo of the Day: Patch of Green, Columbia University

I’m sure, well over half a century ago, when planners at Columbia University hatched their idea to connect the heart of the campus with its law school, that concrete rather than green considerations dominated when they thought of a pedestrian bridge over Amsterdam Avenue. But on a beautiful Saturday afternoon a month ago, when I found myself wandering around my alma mater, the patch of green I saw—and the students (not pictured here) enjoying it—was an unexpected delight.
