Photo of the Day: Pseudo-Sophisticated Lady

With all the wide variety of plants and houses on the grounds at the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York, statues are a relative rarity—and when they do turn up, as here, they make a statement with attitude. I’m not even sure this particular statue has a name or title, but something in the raked tilt of the hat indicates that the desired stylishness of the headgear is being subtly (or, perhaps, not so subtly) mocked.
