I took the accompanying picture of this rather unusual bit of statuary this past Friday, as I was passing by midtown Manhattan's Duffy Square—an area now dubbed by the New York
Daily News’ Mike Lupica “Bloomberg Beach,” in honor of all the lounge chairs and other types of furniture now placed in this pedestrian area once reserved for vehicles ready to run everyone over.
I want you all to know I had the devil of a time getting this shot off. Just as I was ready to snap, didn’t another tourist (or pair of them) come by and wait to have their picture taken in this most commodious bit of outdoor furniture. I thought I’d never get out of there...
